Name & Philosophy

Unibest's Chinese and English names are one with the company's mission, vision and values.

The Name

The name rests on three ideas. 'You' means excellence and 'De' means virtue — both drawn from the I Ching's Commentary on the Image (Xiangzhuan, the “Great Image”): 'Heaven moves in strength; the gentleman strives unceasingly to strengthen himself. Earth is vast; the gentleman bears the world with virtue.' Together they describe a company that, while honouring commercial credit, delivers quality products and services to society. 'Bei' — the cowrie shell, China's earliest currency — signifies that a business is run by people, who must operate with integrity and pursue win–win cooperation. The Chinese name 'Youbeide' is a phonetic rendering of Unibest — United, We Can Be the Best! We distil it into our motto: 自强明德,合众至善 — strengthen oneself, cultivate virtue; unite for the highest good.

Mission

Uniting strengths toward the utmost good — sustainable solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, safeguarding human health.

Vision

To build Unibest into a first-class, respected international pharmaceutical enterprise.

Core Values · The UNIBEST Seven

Our core values condense into eight characters — 自强明德,合众至善 (first cultivate oneself, then uplift others); in English they unfold as the seven letters of UNIBEST.

  • UnitedUnited as the foundation
  • NetworkedNetworked as the bond
  • InnovativeInnovation as the drive
  • BeyondBeyond as the standard
  • EfficientEfficiency as the goal
  • SatisfiedSatisfaction as the purpose
  • TechnologicalTechnology as the means

The Blueprint — Six Levels

How Unibest aligns belief with action: mission, identity, values, capability, behaviour, environment.

What is the Blueprint

The Blueprint is neither strategic planning nor a to-do plan. It is a tool that joins the belief system with the action system: six levels, from mission down to environment, aligned top-down and worked backwards from the end, so that intention, capability and daily actions point the same way. The upper three levels (mission, identity, values) answer “are we willing”; the lower three (capability, behaviour, environment) answer “are we able”. The upper three determine the lower three; the lower three support the upper three. Within the lower three runs a loop: capability drives behaviour, behaviour creates the environment — the environment is the outcome we ultimately create, and it in turn shapes behaviour, capability and the mission. Most of life's dissatisfactions come from these six levels failing to line up.

Why we do it: To get fully aligned — energy flowing freely, knowledge and action as one. Energy matters more than ability: when direction and energy are right, personal capability and social support resonate together.

Seek sincerely; treat the dream as realBegin with the end; secure every stepLive in the present; be clear and specificLink tightly; master as one
Upper three · Inner workMission → Identity → Values. The upper three determine the lower three.
L1Mission

My relationship with the world — what is the ultimate goal? What is the value of my existence?

  • Provide sustainable solutions for the pharmaceutical industry and safeguard human health — in one line: make good medicines accessible.
  • Spiritual roots: self-strengthening, bright virtue, uniting all, reaching the highest good — from the Book of Changes and the Great Learning.
  • United, We Can Be the Best. One person achieves little; united with a group, great things get done.
L2Identity & Vision

Who am I? What kind of person (company) must I become to fulfil the mission?

  • To become an excellent, respected and great company — a first-class, respected international pharmaceutical enterprise.
  • Identity: a first-class one-stop pharmaceutical service provider — respected and sustainable.
  • At personal level: be someone others can rely on. The depth of one's moral standing decides whether opportunities are given — the game is repeated, so integrity is a must.
L3Beliefs & Values

What do I believe in and value? What beliefs support this mission and identity?

  • The seven letters of UNIBEST are the seven values: United (resource integration) · Networked (multiplying through sharing) · Innovative (six-step innovation, second curves) · Beyond (breaking tradition, SMART goals) · Efficient (begin with the end, grow with low entropy) · Satisfied (win-win for shareholders, customers, suppliers, staff, society and the environment) · Technological (pharma expertise + chemistry + AI digitalisation).
  • The three characters of You-Bei-De are three promises: You = excellence, Bei = win-win, De = integrity.
  • Business is circulation: United as the foundation, Networked as the bond, Innovative as the driver, Beyond as the standard, Efficient as the goal, Satisfied as the purpose, Technological as the means.
Lower three · Getting things doneCapability → Behaviour → Environment. The lower three support the upper three.
L4Capability

What does it take to fulfil the mission? What more is possible — the knowledge and skills we have and those we must build?

  • Capability grows from addition to multiplication: first get the buy-sell basics right (sourcing, comparison, SWOT), then build systems that copy themselves — multiplication is the amplifier.
  • Three realms of thinking: dot thinking (see one thing clearly) → line thinking (follow the whole logic chain) → plane thinking (the big picture — fortune and misfortune are two sides of one coin).
  • The method is to begin with the end: for 3 + X = 9, first ask what X is and whether it is worth solving, then work backwards — never guess from the front.
L5Behaviour

What is the process of fulfilling the mission? What will I actually do to reach the goal?

  • Manage goals with SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound); iterate daily with the PDCA loop.
  • The seven habits of highly effective people: be proactive · begin with the end in mind · put first things first · seek first to understand · think win-win · synergise · sharpen the saw.
  • When things go wrong, look within first; keep watching your own mind and return to the present.
L6Environment

What environment and outcome have I ultimately created? How does it in turn shape behaviour, capability and the mission?

  • The order of the lower three: capability drives behaviour, behaviour creates the environment — environment is not an external excuse but the outcome we create at the end.
  • Environment then feeds back into behaviour and capability, and ultimately the mission — so build a good environment on purpose and let the loop lift you upward.
  • The ESG bottom line: environment (green synthesis, AI + flow chemistry) · society (supporting education, giving back) · governance (science-based, fair performance and incentives).
  • Resource network: integrate R&D, industry, trade, environment and investment; cross-border collaboration; reputation and a strong team are the hardest assets.
  • Value × efficiency = total value per unit time. Energy over ability: work and learning put chaos in order — it is fine to start low, fatal to repeat low forever.

Ten questions to draft your own Blueprint

The Blueprint is not only a company document — everyone can run these ten questions on themselves, ideally once a year. The answers change; the order does not.

  1. 1

If I take what I do now to its extreme, what value can I create for the world? What would that look like?

  2. 2

What do I hope to gain? What matters most in my life? And what else? Why?

  3. 3

What kind of person easily gains this value? What kind of person would I be?

  4. 4

Where do my talents meet the needs of the world? (Where the mission reveals itself)

  5. 5

What beliefs would support this mission and identity?

  6. 6

What do I believe in? What are my life creeds? Do they support the value I want to realise?

  7. 7

To realise this value, what capability is absolutely essential?

  8. 8

To gain these capabilities, what must I do? What starts now? What will I keep doing?

  9. 9

What resources do I need? Which do I already have? Which must be created? How?

  10. 10

Listen inward: is this truly what I want?

The One · Unibest One

A concept from Plotinus' Neoplatonism — we named the platform Unibest One because we are building a one-stop platform of The One.

The One: the absolute source

The One is the ultimate, indivisible source of everything. It is not a 'thing'; one can hardly say it even 'exists' — it transcends all existence, all definition, all opposites. The universe was not 'made'; it flows out of The One.

Emanation: overflow, not creation

Because The One is utterly perfect and overflowing with fullness, all things emanate from it naturally and necessarily — the way the sun does not 'decide' to shine but simply radiates because it is full of energy, and a spring does not 'choose' to flow but overflows once the water table is full. No loss, no intention — an absolutely necessary law of nature.

Four levels: The One → Nous → Soul → Matter

The One emanates Nous (pure intellect, the world of Ideas — think of it as the blueprint of the universe); Nous emanates Soul (the life-principle bridging spirit and matter); Soul in turn emanates Matter (the farthest place, where the light is faintest). The further down, the thinner the divinity — yet everything ultimately yearns to return to The One.

Upstream: the soul's homecoming

If all things flow out of The One, then the meaning of life is to travel back upstream: purify the soul through discipline, awaken the intellect through reflection, and finally transcend the self and become one with The One — like a drop of water evaporating, destined to return to the sea.

Hence the name: Unibest One

'One' is The One. The pharmaceutical export chain is long — finding products, choosing markets, registration access, quotations, delivery, compliance — each step like light spreading farther from its source. Unibest One gathers these scattered steps back into one: a single entry point linking products, selection, trading, delivery and compliance; one stop, end to end, instead of shuttling between a dozen systems. All things flow from One, and all things return to One.

Brand Identity

One mark, seven values — understand the mark, and you understand Unibest.

The Mark Is the Idea

The Unibest mark is drawn with one unbroken ribbon. Its four pillars are cylindrical capsules — the body of the pharmaceutical industry. At the centre the ribbon gathers into a hexagon — a benzene ring, the technical base on which we built our business in intermediate synthesis. Above and below it lifts a heart — our commitment to human health, and the original intent behind customer satisfaction. And the whole ribbon joins end to end, weaving over and under itself — a Möbius strip: technology without end, innovation without a finish line. The gradient from violet-blue to magenta is the highest-energy colour there is, and it stands for efficiency; the ribbon reaches outward, past the boundary, and Beyond hides in that movement. So one mark carries the values spelled out by the seven letters of UNIBEST — United, Networked, Innovative, Beyond, Efficient, Satisfied, Technological — and writes our motto: 自强明德,合众至善 — United, We Can Be the Best!

Unibest
United, We Can Be the Best!

Eight characters, two movements: 自强明德 — strengthen oneself, cultivate virtue; 合众至善 — unite for the highest good. In English: United, We Can Be the Best! — bring everyone together and do the best work there is.

Figure 1 · Decoding the mark

The mark turns violet region by region in UNIBEST letter order (one step every 2 seconds, hover to pause); the dashed violet ring is the single ribbon through the whole mark.

Decode along the seven letters of UNIBEST: U United → N Networked → I Innovative → B Beyond → E Efficient → S Satisfied → T Technological. One element lights up every 2 seconds — point at the capsules and they turn violet; point at the benzene ring and it turns violet.

UUnitedUnited
Where it lives in the mark · Four capsules threaded by one ribbon

The Great Learning: “in renewing the people” (qinmin) — virtue illuminated turns outward into union: win hearts, rally people around a shared mission. United is the ground floor of our motto 自强明德,合众至善.

The mark and the values

Seven letters, seven values — and every one of them can be pointed to inside the mark.

The Great Learning: “in renewing the people” (qinmin) — virtue illuminated turns outward into union: win hearts, rally people around a shared mission. United is the ground floor of our motto 自强明德,合众至善.
  • NNetworkedNetworked
    Bands interlacing into a mesh
From intermediates to APIs, from China to the world: the more nodes, the more the network is worth. We run a network, not just a stack of orders.
  • IInnovativeInnovative
The Möbius strip, with no start and no end
Technology never stands still; innovation has no finish line, only the next starting point.
  • BBeyondBeyond

Meeting the specification is not the end: every delivery is measured against exceeding expectation.
  • EEfficientEfficient
    Violet — the highest-energy colour
Fewer steps, shorter cycles, higher yields. Efficiency is the goal.
  • SSatisfiedSatisfied
The two hearts, above and below
Only with heart is there long-term thinking; a satisfied customer is the measure we actually watch.
  • TTechnologicalTechnological

Verbal identity (VIS)

Turning what the mark means into the way we speak every day.

01Positioning

An international pharmaceutical company built on intermediate-synthesis technology, whose delivery is simple: to make the molecule and take the product to market.

02Proposition

Better medicines, sooner. We go deep on technology, steady on delivery and end to end on the chain. We do not invent concepts; we shorten distances.

03Promise

Give us a molecule and we return a deliverable process route; give us a market and we return an executable entry plan. Promises are written into milestones, not into speeches.

04Tone of voice

Rational, steady, warm. We speak with data and delivery rather than slogans — professional without being cold, firm without being hard, like a long-term partner who understands both chemistry and business.

05Brand vocabulary

Use: 自强明德,合众至善 / uniting strengths toward the utmost good / ever-renewing / from intermediates to innovative drugs / United, We Can Be the Best! Avoid: unverifiable claims such as the biggest, the first, the absolute leader.

06Logo usage

Primary colour is the gradient #514FB9 to #BB29BC; the wordmark uses the standard Unibest typeface and must not be stretched on its own. Clear space around the mark is never less than a quarter of its height; no added frames, shadows or extra outlines, and never reverse the gradient direction.
